After ten days off, tomorrow it’s back to work. We just returned home from the most relaxing week of vacation at Fuller’s Resort on Clear Lake in Buchanan, Michigan. We spent the week with our daughter Carrie and son-in-law Joe and our grandchildren, Nolan, Grace and Jack. Our cabin overlooked the lake. We had two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a large living room area with another double bed and a futon, so we had plenty of sleeping space. Every night was musical beds, and many times we didn’t end up where we started. :)
We spent every day on the beach. We were usually the first ones down there, spreading out our belongings and making camp for the day. Our daily attire consisted of swimsuits, plenty of sunscreen and a good pair of sunglasses. On Saturday, they offered a “craft day” and Grace and I made blueberry cobblers with fresh, picked blueberries. We ate ice cream cones from the General Store. Blue Moon was Jack’s favorite. We worked puzzles. We watched “The Bad News Bears” twice, and we made s’mores on more than one occasion. Just pretty simple stuff, and that’s what made it so special.
We’ve booked it again for next July. In the words of 8 year old Nolan, “Grandma, I want to do this every year”.
