Daddy’s Little Girl

Life hasn’t been easy for Bob Knight – being the father of five daughters.  By the end of the year, he will have walked four of them down the aisle.  I think this photo of him with Chrissie, speaks volumes.

….and then relaxing with her, once the ceremony was over.

The Church…

I think that the first time Chrissie walked into St. Monica’s two years ago, she knew this was the aisle she wanted to walk down, on the arm of her father.

The Waiting Game…..

The limo picked us up at 7:45 a.m.  We stopped to pick up bagels, muffins, juice and coffee and then it was on to St. Hedwig to pick up more bridesmaids (so they could leave their cars parked for the reception).  By 8:30, we had arrived at our destination – St. Monica.

We unloaded dresses, flowers, make-up and all the necessities needed to turn these sweat pant clad kids into beautiful women.  The hair stylists arrived and we all patiently waited to be transformed.

Fun and Frolic

After months of planning and stress, the ceremony is over and it’s time to celebrate with friends and family.  On their way to the reception, the limo stopped for a photo op in front of the Morris Performing Arts Center in downtown South Bend.  What a perfect spot this was!!!

This photo took a couple of “takes”, but the final shot was worth the effort.

This One…..

I think this one might belong in a bridal magazine.

….or maybe this one.

The DRESS and Vital Accessories

A few days before Chrissie’s wedding, a friend advised me to set my camera aside and enjoy the day.  As hard as this was for me, I followed that advice.  I’ve been patiently waiting for the photographer to post some of his photos and late last week, my patience was rewarded.

I remember back to that morning, as bride, bridesmaids, sisters, aunts, nieces, cousins, friends and moms gathered in the church basement – and amidst all of the confusion – one lone man – Andrew Conrad, our photographer.   At one point, I saw him take the dress, the shoes and the bouquet and leave the room.

….and now I know why.  Who could imagine that inanimate objects could display such beauty.

Bridal Shower

Today’s bridal shower was beautiful.  The weather cooperated and the shower was held outdoors at the Blackthorn Golf Course.  Our oldest flower girl Grace, considered herself to be a hostess of sorts.  Before we knew it, she’d managed herself a tip cup and a couple of dollars.  Don’t ask me how.

Melissa and Brianne (the Maid and Matron of Honor) outdid themselves on the decorations and the menu.  Everyone was instructed to wear black and white, which was fun.  Only the bride was allowed to “stand out”.

Here’s a few photos of our day…

My Current Existence

Aside from working 40 hours a week and trying to maintain a sideline SCENTSY business and a home and a teenage daughter, I am now on the countdown of under 90 days until our first wedding of 2009.

Flowers and invitations are underway for wedding number 2, but my craft room is currently a sea of moss green, pink and wine – the August wedding.   Still in need of a few more addresses, but basically the invitations are ready to go into the mail at the end of June.  All the guest favors are completed and the bridesmaid’s flip flops have been decorated for a night of comfortable dancing.  Except for adding a little “surprise” to the bouquets, they are also complete.

And as soon as all of this gets moved OUT, the dark purple and white for November will take it’s place.

The Cake

A decision is still pending on the cake topper, but this is the style decided upon by the bride and groom. The base icing will be white, with the decorative icing in ivory. Instead of burgundy, the ribbon will be moss green and we will have pale pink flowers throughout the tiers. The cake will have a raspberry filling, which was the only opinion voiced by the groom.

August Flower Girls

Our three little August flower girls will all be wearing this dress from David's Bridal. The color is Ivory and we had Grace try it on and stand next to Aunt Chrissie in her gown. That was all it took. The bride was happy, the flower girl mammas were happy and the flower girls just wanted to "twirl". We also purchased the flower ring for their hair, with long curling ribbons that will fall down the back.

This photo isn't the best. It hides the detail for the empire waist. Carrie's first comment was that they looked like Wendy Darling from Disney's Peter Pan. You know, she might just be right.

What a LOAD of BLING!!!!

As my husband puts it, "these three rings cost more than our first house". And, he's probably right.

From left to right: our August bride (Chrissie), our November bride (Katie) and our June 2010 bride (Melissa - Chrissie's BFF). Melissa is Chrissie's Maid of Honor in August and Chrissie will be Melissa's Matron of Honor next June.

Wedding Preparations

The dining room has become a "staging area" for our August and November weddings. Closets just aren't big enough. That's Chrissie's on the right and Katie's on the left - and that's the ONLY view you'll get until later this year.

She Can't Pronounce It....

So, the bride-to-be informs me this morning that they have decided on a honeymoon location.

"Where is it?"

"I can't remember, but it's in the Caribbean."

"Aruba, St. Martaan, St. Thomas?"

"No - but it's near Aruba. I can't pronounce it."

So, I did a quick GOOGLE search of islands near Aruba that are difficult to pronounce. And I came up with.....

"Curacao?"

"That's it!!"

"OK, so do you remember the name of the resort?"

"It starts with a "K"?

And I'm back to GOOGLE, searching resorts on the island of Curacao.

"Kura Hulanda Beach Club?"

"YES!!"

So, after 15 minutes of Twenty Questions, we have an island, we have a resort and we have a description with photos. According to Chrissie, it's exactly what they both want - tropical and secluded.
