Within 24 hours of stepping off the Carnival Glory two weeks ago, we were already on the phone talking about another cruise. It's a sickness - I just can't explain it! Our next tentative date is a year and a half away, but it gives us something to look forward to. So, we have a date and an itinerary chosen - November 7, 2009 - Eastern Caribbean aboard the Carnival Glory - Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Martin. We have a list of 12 interested couples!!!
Yesterday, an article appeared in the Orlando Sentinal - telling about a new ship, the Carnival Dream which is currently under construction in Italy and is scheduled to be based at Port Canaveral in the fall of 2009. The Dream is a 130,000 ton ship - the largest in the Carnival fleet and will hold 3,652 passengers - nearly 700 more than the Glory. Carnival has stated that the ship's itinerary will be disclosed at a later date, but port officials are assuming that it will replace the Glory on its current 7-day itinerary.
I called Carnival yesterday and asked what would happen if we had a group sailing scheduled on the Glory for November of '09 and then the Dream moves in and the Glory is sent to another port? I was told that our reservations would transfer to the new ship at no additional cost to us. WOW - could we be that lucky to be some of the first to sail on a new ship???? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Here is an artist's rendition of what the new Carnival Dream will look like....
