Carnival GLORY Cruise - Day 2 - at Sea

Sunday, April 6th was our first full day at sea. My friend Gena and I were up early and on deck by 7:30 a.m. We'd stake out some prime spots on the Lido Deck, she would run on the track and I'd relax with a cup of coffee and my book.

Except for slipping out for meals, we were in those chairs from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. If our husbands found their way out of the shade, they would sit on the foot of our lounger. Usually by 9:00, Chris and Tonya and Arlette had joined us and us girls enjoyed our foo-foo drinks and girl talk, while our husbands sat in the shade and sucked down their Miller Lite. Our "norm" for the sea days was to have room service bring us coffee and bagels and fruit at 7:00 a.m. and then I was off to Lido Deck. Bob usually found his way out there around 10:00 a.m. The sun was bright and the sea was calm - it was a perfect day. Here's my brother Frank and sister-in-law Arlette, soaking up the sun.

Sunday afternoon's entertainment on the Lido Deck consist of the Ice Carving Demonstration and the Hairy Chest Contest. My sister-in-law and I along with another lady were chosen as the judges for the Hairy Chest Contest - which is always a real crowd pleaser!!

By late afternoon, we made our way to our room to get showered and ready for the Captain's Cocktail Reception and our 1st Formal Night. All of the lounges offer the reception, but if you want to meet the Captain and his Officers, you must attend the reception in the Ebony Lounge.

Our Captain was from Italy and he announced that the only member of his staff that was an American was our Cruise Director - Ryan Fitzgerald from the GREAT STATE of INDIANA. Of course, we had 12 Hoosiers at our table and we were cheering very loudly for Ryan - who put on quite a show and had the crowd going. After the introductions were completed, he made his way over to our table and visited with his fellow Hoosiers for a few minutes. A very nice guy!!!

After the reception, we made our way to the Ivory Lounge for cigars and martinis before our 8:00 dinner in the Platinum Dining Room. Tonight's menu included lobster and it was "oh so yummy". Oh, and this was the night that my husband discovered the chocolate melting cake - which I think he had every night from then on.



After dinner, we changed into comfy clothes and made our way to the piano bar. This was a lot of fun!!! The piano player informed us that there were 4 songs we would NEVER hear him play. Number 4: The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Number 3: Gilligan's Island. Nubmer 2: The Love Boat. And Number 1 - Anything by Celine Dion. He told us that ALL of the musicians went down with the Titanic - but that would NOT happen to him. He'd ride that thing (the grand piano) with a paddle all the way back to Florida. So, after a very long day - it was time for a good night's sleep in preparation for a fun day in Cozumel. This little fellow greeted us upon returning to our room....
