The Baby of the Family.....

Those of you who are the baby of the family may not agree with this and those of you who have younger siblings will TOTALLY relate. Kelli Knight is the youngest of seven children and the older six will tell you RIGHT NOW that she is spoiled rotten. As her mother, I don't think we "spoiled" her, I think we were just wore out!

So, as most of you know, she's going on a cruise in 3 weeks - Bahamas, Grand Turk over spring break with her best friend and family. This trip has been in the planning since Christmas and all of us "non-cruisers" in the family can't believe her luck! As for me, I could only dwell on the fact that I was going to get away NOW and spend the next 10 days in Florida - 82 degrees and sunshine (the forecast for this weekend in Cocoa Beach). I'll be traveling with my daughter Katie (the coach) and her college softball team for a spring break tournament. I also knew that because a walk-on had quit the team, there was now an extra ticket available. So, last weekend the Athletic Director approaches Katie and asks if her little sister (I use that term lightly since Kelli towers over Katie) would like to go as the bat girl?

Now, Bob and I have never (in 9 years of grade school) taken Kelli out of school for a vacation. She's in the final three months of her 8th grade year and her grandmother (who she hasn't seen in four years) lives 20 miles from the tournament site. For me, it was a no-brainer and her father agreed. Add to this a very supportive principal and teacher - and Kelli is now traveling to Florida with us on Friday.

Needless to say, Kevin (18 year old high school senior and baseball player who is practicing 5 days a week) is having a COW!! "She gets EVERTHING."

So, Kevin and Bob and Rigby (the dog) will be doing the "guy thing" for the 10 days. I'm sure Hacienda and McDonalds will know them by name!!
