The Graduates…..

My Pages in Time Design Team assignment for this month was  “GRADUATION”.  It’s been three years since I had a graduate, but I pulled out the photos of Kevin and his buddies and came up with this layout.  These photos brought back such great memories of this group of boys, who used to lay around my family room playing video games, watching movies and emptying my refrigerator.

I miss those days.

Sisters…..

I didn’t grow up with a sister, which is one reason I LOVE seeing my girls together.  They fought constantly when they lived under my roof - but now as adults, they are best friends.  The share a great group of friends too, which makes me look even more forward to the “antics” at our upcoming weddings.

My Current Existence

Aside from working 40 hours a week and trying to maintain a sideline SCENTSY business and a home and a teenage daughter, I am now on the countdown of under 90 days until our first wedding of 2009.

Flowers and invitations are underway for wedding number 2, but my craft room is currently a sea of moss green, pink and wine – the August wedding.   Still in need of a few more addresses, but basically the invitations are ready to go into the mail at the end of June.  All the guest favors are completed and the bridesmaid’s flip flops have been decorated for a night of comfortable dancing.  Except for adding a little “surprise” to the bouquets, they are also complete.

And as soon as all of this gets moved OUT, the dark purple and white for November will take it’s place.

Graduation 2009

Kelli’s boyfriend Ben graduated from Clay High School over the weekend. Thanks to the ticket lottery, Ben’s mom was able to get an extra ticket for Kelli. Ben will be off to college this fall and Kelli will be a Senior. I have a feeling it will be a rough year for both of them.

Pretty in Pink…..

According to the photographer (my talented friend, Jenny Hoke), Anna didn’t want to have much to do with Jenny at the beginning of the shoot.  But she eventually became agreeable and even bestowed a kiss upon the photographer.   I’m thinking this was a “test run” for the flower girl photos in August.

Technique of the Month

My assignment for May was the Technique Table.  This is my least favorite assignment and I’d put it off as long as humanly possible.  The good news is that I won’t face this assignment again for another year!!

I have to admit that once I got it completed, I was actually happy with the results.  When I first started scrapbooking, there were no Cricuts to give us paper pieced embellishments for our pages.  Instead, we traced items from coloring books using our light boards, pieced them together and added them to our pages.  Very time consuming, but I always loved the results.   So, that’s what I did.  I went back to my old pattern books and pieced these items for a layout, a picture frame and a Mother’s Day card.  On the card, the flower is pieced with glitter beads added to the center.  The moon and the baby have been pieced on the picture frame, and the cupid with the bow and arrow on the LITTLE HEARTBREAKER layout.

The Classic Pose…..

Prom photos have changed over the years. Sometimes they like to do “silly” things – like the girl holding the guy’s tie over her shoulder. Kelli and Ben did this at their mid-winter dance in January and it was cute. But, when I wrote out the check for the prom photos, I requested “nothing silly”. Last night, she handed me the envelope of photos and smiled, and actually agreed with me – that you can’t go wrong with the classic pose.

Thanks Kelli and Ben – for granting my request. You both look WONDERFUL!!!

My Life…..

This is a layout I did recently for Pages in Time.  It pretty much sums up my life.  After raising seven children, I now get to spoil and shower kisses upon six little people – the children of my children – four boys and two girls.  All of these little individuals – Nolan, Grace, Jack Benjamin, Andrew (A.J.) and Anna – each so different in their personalities and all a new branch of this family tree.

I Haven’t Given Up My Favorite Hobby…

Amidst wedding invitations (for two weddings), floral arrangements (for two weddings), and a new business venture – I still manage to find my way back for a few layouts now and then.  I know that the time will come that life will calm down, and my pictures and supplies will be patiently waiting –waiting for me to preserve our family memories once again.
